Help Me Make It Through the Night is my free Christmas short story, which is about 2000 words. It's the story of two strangers who need someone to help them make it through the night of Christmas Eve. I was excited to see that on yesterday, the story ranked #4 in free Kindle Short Reads between 22-45 pages in the Teen and Young Adult. In the Romance category for free short reads between 22-45 pages, my story ranked #14. (See screenshots below.)
I attribute a large part of this success to Amazing Kindle Books. It took forever for me to make the short story perma-free. I finished writing it in late November. In order for it to be free on Amazon, it had to be free on other sites like Barnes and Noble. After three submissions, Smashwords approved it and finally got it posted on B&N. With the help of others, Amazon was notified that it was a free book and changed it to free on their site. Not knowing when the book would be free, it was difficult for me to notify lots of the different sites that feature free books. I found a gig on fiverr that promotes romance books, including erotica, for those looking for such sites. Once my promotion went live on the site, about 53 visitors came to my giveaway blog, and in two days' time, I had 91 downloads and six new reviews. I was happy with the turnout, considering the fact that my ad posted on December 21, only four days before Christmas, and during a time when many are too busy to worry about reading. Prior to the ad, I'd had 34 downloads over a period of five days and only about 8 visitors to my giveaway blog. Here's the site where my ad is posted: Amazing Kindle Books.
My story is still free. It's available atSmashwords and Barnes and Noble.
and my Jingle Bell Book Blog giveaway is still active until 7 p.m. E.T. So stop by for your chances to win. Kathy's Jingle Bell Book Blog Giveaway. Thanks!
